Synopsis for the 1st Story

Solomon and the rest of Bloodstrike pick up Cabbot’s team from the freighter in the Gulf of Mexico.  Once Cabbot is aboard the team’s jet, Athena reveals they are tracking the Pedestal’s energy signature.  On her island, Epiphany basks in the power of the Eye of God and kills Maniac when he asks her to pay him.   She explains to the rest of the Horde that she is an alien of the Othu race and shows them the ship she crashed on Earth in millennia ago.  Using the Eye of God, she psionically powers it up and leads the Horde aboard. As the craft leaves the island, she declares her intent to conquer Earth.  Aboard Bloodstrike’s jet, Solomon assures Gunther they will defeat Epiphany as they have before and informs the team they will intercept her ship.  En route, Athena confides in Cabbot about her desire to have a normal life, and they kiss.  Bloodstrike catches up with Epiphany’s ship, and they blast their way inside.  As they engage the Horde, Tag spontaneously combusts. Cabbot confronts Gunther, and he divulges that what just happened to her is a side effect of his resurrection process. Epiphany enters and kills Shogun and Fourplay.  Cabbot fires at her as Deadlock sneaks up behind her and pushes her through the hull of the ship.  In midair, Deadlock combusts, destroying himself and Epiphany.  The rest of Bloodstrike returns to their jet, and Epiphany’s ship crashes into the ocean.  When Gunther apologizes for their teammates’ deaths, Cabbot punches him out.  Later, Cabbot says goodbye to Athena and leaves.

Notes

  • The story of Cabbot Stone continues in the series Bloodstrike Assassin.
  • At the end of this issue, a blurb advertises the missing adventures of Cabbot Stone to be published in Bloodstrike #23, 24, and 26 in the fall of 1995. These plans were abandoned, and publication of Bloodstrike did not resume until March 2012 with issue #26. Bloodstrike #23 and #24 were not published until 2018. (Bloodstrike #25 had already been published in May 1994 as part of the Images of Tomorrow event.)

Trivia

  • As revealed in Bloodstrike #23, the members of the Bloodstrike team who die in this issue are actually clones.
